Kate Rew BVSc(Hons) MRCVS Cert VetAc(IVAS)(ABVA) graduated from the University of Melbourne with and Honours degree in Veterinary Science in 1990. She has been a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the UK since 1991and has had over 30 years’ experience working as a vet in both general and specialist vet practice.

Kate has always had a special interest in chronic pain management, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation, and acupuncture and completed her International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) Certificate in 2000. She had been involved in teaching on the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncture (ABVA) Course in the UK and abroad and completed the certificate Programme in Canine Rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee in 2006.

Kate set up Linhay Veterinary Rehabilitation Centre in South Devon in 2008 which was the first independent, specialist veterinary rehabilitation referral centre in the UK, seeing cases from all over Southern England. This is now Ridge Referrals (a small animal orthopaedic and arthroscopy referral hospital) and IVS continue to run consultancy acupuncture and pain clinics from there as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as in other vet practices and venues locally. Kate also operates from the WIN Clinic near Wellington in West Somerset, where she works running acupuncture and pain clinics with team of 5 ACPAT(A) Physiotherapists, and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, with the help of associate veterinary surgeons.

Kate was a founder member of the British Veterinary Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Association (BVRSMA) and is currently involved with setting up a special interest group (South West Pain Group) which will soon be affiliated with the Langford Academy at the University of Bristol Veterinary School, and will encourage further interdisciplinary collaboration with our more complex cases.

Sophia Chalk

As part of the IVS team, Sophia support clients with processing insurance claims for the acupuncture treatment their animals receive. This includes liaising with veterinary practices and pet insurance providers to ensure claims are processed swiftly as needed.

Sophia joined the team in 2020 after previously working within veterinary practice. Since then, she has completed a foundation and Bachelors degree in animal behaviour and is now working towards a Masters degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training.

Sophia shares her home with two wonderful dogs who provide great company on walks all around Devon. In her spare time, she provide behaviour and training support with a specialist interest in assisting rescue dogs, particularly those adopted from overseas.

Katy Yeo

Katy is our part-time administration clerk dealing with registration of new clients and appointments. In addition, Katy is an eco-gardener whose passions include her two springer spaniels and community gardening.
